Be race-day ready…
Designed for swimmers taking on the Cooly Classic, this 3-week program builds the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for race day.
Led by Phil Clayton, swimmers benefit from his local knowledge, experience as the British Triathlon open water swim coach, and insight as a former professional athlete.
With the right support, swimmers can feel more prepared, more in control, and better able to enjoy the race.
3 Week Course
Session 1
Learn what to expect across the 3-week program, how to set realistic goals, and the race options available. This session includes water movement, safe water entry, warm-up drills, sighting, swimming in a straight line, and learning how to manage swimming in a crowd.
Session 2
Revisit key points from the first session and build on them with race strategy and swimming gear. This session includes entry and exit practice, deep water work, learning how gear can help, and a longer swim back to Kirra around a race buoy.
Session 3
Focus on race day preparation by learning how to assess conditions, manage nerves, and swim to your ability. This session includes a set 500m course, wave practice, breaking the race into smaller, achievable parts, and learning how to hold your line.
